We are a 30-year old operatic society which performs a Gilbert and Sullivan operetta each year in the Spring at Hornby Institute, Hornby, Lancaster, where we also meet and rehearse. We rehearse on Friday nights from mid-September and Saturday mornings nearer to the show dates. We welcome energetic new members who are interested in singing, acting, set building, prompting, props and front of house. Find out more about membership. Our last production "The Gondoliers" was yet again a sell-out. We perform with an orchestra which is very popular with our audiences and greatly enhances the sense of occasion and drama. We perform with attractive sets, lighting and fully costumed, to create a rich theatrical effect! Our Producer and MD are highly experienced with a great deal of technique to share.
There is a HVT cake stall at the fair next Saturday that Christine Porter is organising and HVT is also providing the refreshments. They would welcome any donations of cakes either for the stall or to cut up to sell for refreshments. If any members could contribute, please bring them to the Institute next Saturday morning before 10 am.
