Welcome to Hornby Occasionals

We are a 30-year old operatic society which performs a Gilbert and Sullivan operetta each year in the Spring at Hornby Institute, Hornby, Lancaster, where we also meet and rehearse. We rehearse on Friday nights from mid-September and Saturday mornings nearer to the show dates. We welcome energetic new members who are interested in singing, acting, set building, prompting, props and front of house. Find out more about membership. Our last production "The Gondoliers" was yet again a sell-out. We perform with an orchestra which is very popular with our audiences and greatly enhances the sense of occasion and drama. We perform with attractive sets, lighting and fully costumed, to create a rich theatrical effect! Our Producer and MD are highly experienced with a great deal of technique to share.

AGM - ALL CHANGE!!!

Granville Tunnicliffe-Wilson as "Valet de Cham" in Ruddigore

25 members attended a lively and good humoured AGM last night to elect new officers to the committee and choose our 2014 Production. Granville Tunnicliffe-Wilson retired as Chairman after 4 years loyal service. He was noted for his "calmness under fire" and for numerous character roles, shown here in the 2012 production of Ruddigore.
