Welcome to Hornby Occasionals

We are a 30-year old operatic society which performs a Gilbert and Sullivan operetta each year in the Spring at Hornby Institute, Hornby, Lancaster, where we also meet and rehearse. We rehearse on Friday nights from mid-September and Saturday mornings nearer to the show dates. We welcome energetic new members who are interested in singing, acting, set building, prompting, props and front of house. Find out more about membership. Our last double production "HMS Pinafore and Trial By Jury " were yet again a sell-out. We perform with an orchestra which is very popular with our audiences and greatly enhances the sense of occasion and drama. We perform with attractive sets, lighting and fully costumed, to create a rich theatrical effect! Our Producer and MD are highly experienced with a great deal of technique to share.

The Principles Are Announced

David and Richard have announced the results of the auditions for The Mikado. A Huge Thank You to every one who auditioned.

The quality of voices we have in both principle roles and chorus this year will ensure that we are able to deliver an incredible opera.

A New Producer

We are delighted to announce that David Towers has agreed to produce our Mikado. David has a long association with the Occasionals and we welcome his return.

David , Richard and Gillian will be casting the principle roles without any further delay. Good luck to anyone auditioning for a part.

Allo Allo Fund Raiser Take 2

A BIG THANKYOU to everyone who joined us for our Allo Allo show at Whittington Village Hall. A joint fund raising event with the Arkholme PTA. A Special Thankyou to Derek and Sandra for travelling down from Scotland to support us. We had a wonderful evening and a lot of fun.

Notice of an Extraordinary General Meeting of Hornby Occasionals

To be held at 7.00p.m on Friday 12th September in Hornby Village Institue followed by the  first rehearsal of the new season.

Derek and Sandra are to move from the area and will be handing over their reponsibilities of Chairman and Producer.

The meeting will consider  replacements for both these positions.

We hope you will be able to attend.

Our "techno-geek" Jean Tunnicliffe Wilson San has been at it again, despite Granville's final warning! Thanks to her efforts we now have a glittering array of MP3 files for download to help you audition for parts in Mikado. Start early and dazzle the Producer & MD! They don't get out much, so you're in with a good chance!
